DESCRIPTION: Lange and Taylor journey by train from San Francisco to New York City to look for a publisher for their book, An American Exodus. Lange’s friend Ansel Adams had agreed to print her photographs for the book, but Roy Stryker refused to lend the negatives, so Lange travels to Washington, D.C. to supervise the printing in the FSA laboratory. Stryker sends Lange on assignment to North Carolina.
