Almitra (Sidhwa) Patel ’58, SM ’59 was the first woman from India to earn an engineering degree from MIT. She spent 31 years in industry, then became one of India’s leading environmental activists.

RESEARCH NEWS

A new system makes models like DALL-E 2 — an artificial intelligence-based image generator — more creative. CSAIL researchers developed the new method, which uses multiple models to create more complex images with better understanding.

CLIMATE ACTION

MIT has accelerated its efforts toward its carbon reduction goals. “We’re taking comprehensive steps to address our carbon footprint,” Glen Shor says. “Reducing our emissions to zero will be challenging, but it’s the right aspiration.”
