Blogger Jess '10 wrote about Burton-Conner and their pre-Thanksgiving potluck.
"Since most of us are going our separate ways this Thursday, our awesome GRT (Graduate Resident Tutor, similar to an RA) Vered (aka V) hosted a Thanksgiving potluck last night at her apartment, at which we all said what we were thankful for (i.e. Dima: "I'm thankful for the Burton 1 freshmen, without whom I would not have passed 18.03. ...at least, I think I'm passing 18.03..")
V cooked a massive turkey, Steph and Melinda brought two kinds of stuffing, Lauren made homemade orange-cranberry sauce, D. Temp brought TEN pounds of mashed potatoes (which included 4 whole sticks of butter, which we all consumed and promptly died of coronary heart disease), Praveen made tuna cakes, Allin brought his corn souffle courtesy of his mom's recipe, Ravi and Jamie made some weird cow pie dish* that was something in between tortillas that I didn't eat because I'm (thankfully) a vegetarian.. basically, there was a lot of food and I'm kind of still in a food coma, so I'm not going to write what everyone brought because I don't want to make you jealous. But I made two pumpkin pies and the best apple torte of your life. Don't be jealous, or anything.

Team Bemis makes hand turkeys
Blogger Lulu '09 wrote about how you can tell a lot about someone's personality by the hand turkeys they create.
"Team Bemis spent Saturday night a couple of weeks ago putting their creative minds to use designing and implementing capable lovable hand turkeys. For those unfamiliar with the concept, the steps involved in making a hand turkey are as follows:
- Stock up on supplies (construction paper, glitter, glue, markers, finger-paints... "Are you a kindergarten teacher?" asks the sales clerk. "No," says Kelly. "They're for my friends at... uh...nevermind").
- Gather friends and followers.
- Trace the outline of your hand (preferably the hand you do not use to trace with) on construction paper.
- Cut along the lines.
- Repeat. Or not. Whatever.
- Decorate!
But what's thanksgiving without a feast?
The denizens of First East (East Campus) held our annual hall thanksgiving this past Sunday (before everyone left) complete with a big delicious dinner we all sat down to eat like a big ol' happy family. Our lovely and gracious host this year was Kelly '09 who gave commands and oversaw the operations in the kitchen all day. The preparations moved along like a well-oiled machine under her stern but gentle leadership and for the first time (ever?) dinner was served on time (6 o'clock sharp!).
Oh by the way every hall in East Campus has a kitchen. Because we do not have a dining hall. By the end of this entry you won't want a dining hall either ;-)
