Rambax MIT Senegalese drum ensemble
Sunday, Dec. 7, 7-9 pm, Broad Institute Auditorium
Rambax MIT is an ensemble dedicated to learning the art of sabar, a vibrant drum and dance tradition of the Wolof people of Senegal, West Africa. (The name "rambax" - pronounced "rahm-bach" - is a vocal mnemonic for a signature sabar rhythm.) In Senegal, Sabar drum troupes perform at a variety of events, from neighborhood dance parties to wrestling matches, baptisms and weddings.

MIT chamber music society concert

The Chamber Music Society is composed of students selected by audition to study and perform chamber music literature.
  • Jasmin Baek, 10, flute; Laura Ware, 12, oboe; Alvin Cheung, G, harpsichord perform Johann Joachim Quantz's Trio Sonata in C Minor, QV 2:Anh. 5.
  • Joyce Wang '12, piano; Stephanie Wu '10, piano perform Dvorak's Slavonic Dances for Four Hands.
  • Nicholas Joliat '10, piano; Yang Yang '07, MEng '08, piano perform Poulenc's Sonate pour deux pianos.
  • Khoa Lu Nguyen '10, Andrew Wang '11 piano perform Witold Lutoslawski's Variations on a Theme by Paganini.

    Techiya fall concert
    Sunday, Dec. 7, 8-9:30 pm, 34-101
    MIT's Jewish a cappella group, Techiya, is holding its fall concert on Sunday, December 7 at 8 PM in 34-101. Stellar music and hilarious skits are guaranteed. Shani, Harvard's Jewish a cappella group, will be opening.
