Rambax MIT Senegalese drum ensemble Sunday, Dec. 7, 7-9 pm, Broad Institute Auditorium Rambax MIT is an ensemble dedicated to learning the art of sabar, a vibrant drum and dance tradition of the Wolof people of Senegal, West Africa. (The name "rambax" - pronounced "rahm-bach" - is a vocal mnemonic for a signature sabar rhythm.) In Senegal, Sabar drum troupes perform at a variety of events, from neighborhood dance parties to wrestling matches, baptisms and weddings. MIT chamber music society concert Sunday, Dec. 7, 7-9 pm, Kresge Auditorium The Chamber Music Society is composed of students selected by audition to study and perform chamber music literature. Techiya fall concert Sunday, Dec. 7, 8-9:30 pm, 34-101 MIT's Jewish a cappella group, Techiya, is holding its fall concert on Sunday, December 7 at 8 PM in 34-101. Stellar music and hilarious skits are guaranteed. Shani, Harvard's Jewish a cappella group, will be opening. |
