Volunteer for spouses&partners@mit
Volunteers are what make spouses&partners@mit the special organization it is. Our volunteers contribute in both big and small ways: from helping to clean up after a party to organizing a interest group or managing our website redesign.
You don’t need to speak English perfectly to volunteer. Also, you can bring your child with you to some of these activities. No experience is necessary - but you probably will gain some!
Call (617-253-1614) or email Jennifer Recklet to let her know you're interested in helping out, and she'll set up a meeting with you to discuss your interests.
Maybe you have a new idea for spouses&partners@mit. We’d love to hear about and help you get it started!

Volunteers needed:
Writers and researchers needed for the Newcomers Guide: Did you know that the Newcomers Guide was created by spouses in 2000 and has been maintained solely by spouses ever since? We are looking for volunteers to review and update the content of the Newcomers Guide. You will check for errors, update old information, add missing information, and fix broken links. We especially need volunteers to work on the following categories: Pet care, Education, Shopping, Transport, Money, Sightseeing and Entertainment. If you are looking for a way to get involved in spouses&partners@ mit, working on the Newcomers Guide is the perfect way to join a project team and make a contribution! No experience necessary - but you probably will gain some! Please contact Azilah Baker to learn about how you can get involved.
International Fair Coordinator: Every April the International Students Association sponsors a day-long fair celebrating the diversity of the MIT campus. The International Clubs of the MIT community get the chance to present a little piece of their culture, something to show their country, habits, and traditions. Every club has a booth where they can show pictures, give out maps and guides, play music, sell or give away food. Musical and dance performances are also featured. We are looking for someone to coordinate spouses&partners@mit's participation in this event.
Party Coordinator: Make arrangement for our annual Holiday Party in December and/or the May Barbecue (food, decorations, activities, music, volunteers).
Interest group leader: You can start a group related to any topic or talent. Maybe you want to start a group that meets for coffee in your neighborhood or a babysitting exchange with other parents. We also need people to organize evening and weekend activities and groups.
Lead the moms-to-be group: Help pregnant women connect with each other for support and information. Organize a group where moms-to-be can share their feelings, emotions, changes and questions about your pregnancy and newborn babies. No experience necessary!
