Introduction
There are lots of schools, colleges and community centers around the Metro Boston area. You won't have a big problem finding on and off campus programs that suit your English level and meet your expectations.
- On campus programs: MIT offers many different kinds of ESL classes. Some are open to MIT students only, while others are open to non-students. The MIT Women's League and the Baptist Church offer such classes. The MIT Spouses and Partners group hosts weekly meetings, helps you find language partners, and has an English study group as one of its interest groups. There is also an International Toastmasters club as well as other centers that can help you with your writing and finding useful resources on campus.
- Off campus programs: Cambridge, Boston and Brookline and the other cities and towns have community centers. Most of them offer a variety of classes with affordable fees. Major colleges in the area are known for their excellent ESL programs. You may also want to check out private English schools since they provide very intensive programs. Local public libraries are always a good place to start. They have abundant ESL resources and offer free English conversation classes.
Above all, don't forget that you are already in a perfect ESL classroom setting. Make friends and communicate with them in English and read books and newspapers. All your effort will count! Good luck!
