Ticketing FAQs

Who was eligible to purchase a college student ticket?
Any college student from any college (seriously... anywhere) with a valid college ID can purchase a student ticket.

Is the email I received from sao-tickets@mit.edu regarding updating my TechCash payment information legitimate?
Yes. We needed to give some of our customers the opportunity to correct their TechCash order before the event to reduce confusion and congestion at Will Call. This does not apply to TechCash orders submitted after mid-April. If you didn't receive an email, you don't need to worry.

When did online ticketing end? Can I buy tickets at the event?
Online ticketing will ended 11:59 pm on Thursday, April 24. An extremely limited number of door tickets ($3 more at each price level) will be available on Friday, April 25 starting at noon in the Student Center 3rd floor Coffeehouse. These tickets will go fast!

When and where can I pick up tickets I ordered online?
Will Call on Friday, April 25: (see map below)
12-4:30pm, on the 3rd floor Coffeehouse in the Student Center
5-10pm, outside the southern entrance to the Johnson Athletic Center
Don't forget your IDs!

Can I get a refund for my order?
We cannot accommodate email or phone requests to refund your order. If you have an extraordinary circumstance, we will reply to your email to discuss options.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?
We cannot accommodate email or phone requests to change the name on your order. In order to transfer your ticket, you will need to pick up your ticket at Will Call and personally give the ticket to the other person. (Keep in mind that if you purchased a student ticket, the person you give it to will still need to have a valid student ID to be admitted to the event.) If you have an extraordinary circumstance, we will reply to your email to discuss options.

I bought a ticket for my friend who is currently in high school. She does not have a local college ID, but I do. Will he/she still be able to get in?
We can only admit high school students carrying MIT Guest tickets and are escorted by an MIT student/affiliate ticket-holder.

Will you really be checking IDs?
Yes, definitely. Possibly even twice for some of you...

  • If you're picking up tickets at Will Call, we'll need to see a photo ID if you paid by credit card or your MIT ID if you paid by TechCash.
  • Every ticket-holder will be screened for affiliation:
MIT student/affiliate ticket-holders: You will need to present a valid MIT ID at security to be admitted.
MIT guest ticket-holders: You will not need to present photo ID, but you will need to be escorted by an MIT student/affiliate ticket-holder. Maximum of two guests per MIT ticket-holder.
Local college student ticket-holders: You will need to present a valid college student ID at security to be admitted.

Where is all of this going down?
MIT Student Center (Afternoon Will Call):
84 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge (Google map, MIT map)
MIT Johnson Athletic Center (Venue entrance, Ticketing, Evening Will Call):
120 Vassar St, Cambridge (Google map, MIT map)
