Rayawa is a principal administrative officer in the Department of Housing of the Republic of Fiji Islands with twenty years’ experience as a civil servant. Currently she is the project manager for Squatter Upgrading Development Projects in Fiji.  She has coordinated the formulation of Fiji’s first National Housing Policy. Her achievements include the completion of four upgrading projects that enabled 500 squatters to secure land titles and several water, electricity, and sewerage services. She holds a master’s degree in public administration. At MIT, she intends to focus on policy administration, policy implementation, and international perspectives and ideas in reducing or solving squatter population in the world.
