María Cecilia is an architect specializing in historical site preservation. She was the director of the Department of Historical Sites at Cuenca Municipality. As a consultant to the University and the Municipality of Cuenca, she coordinated projects on heritage and landscape conservation issues, one of which was the planning of the city’s historical area. She holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture in Ecuador and a certificate of professional studies in heritage planning in Italy. At MIT, she will focus on urban planning and landscape case studies that can be applied in the context of Ecuador.
