Umar Garba Benna

Umar is a charted architect and planner with experience in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He holds a bachelor of Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria, and a master of Regional Planning and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He teaches urban and regional planning at the University of Dammam in Saudi Arabia and is also the founder and president of Benna Associates, an architectural/planning firm in Nigeria. At MIT, he plans to explore how human activities in the metropolis and in the ‘cyberpolis’ can enhance the creation of efficient and sustainable cities.
