Course 10: GARP Project Team Meeting Notes

Attendees:

  1. Shawn Dunn
  2. Maria Fernandez
  3. Janet Fischer
  4. Leo Larson

Agenda:

The meeting goal was to discuss the business process by which Course 10 decides and processes student funding in the form of FE, RA and TA.

Budgeting Process:

A: Research Assistants

Course 10, like most departments at MIT has a home grown database. In this database, they include student-funding information by faculty member. This information is then used to send faculty previous term funding data to either confirm or change the student’s funding source data for the current term.

B: Teaching Assistants

Faculty members decide TA budget allocations. Faculties use the current term’s pre-enrollment data to support the decision-making process.

Would love to have

Department 10 would love to have a mechanism by which they could do a "budget check" before they process a graduate award. It would also be critical to have a check for collector expiration dates.
