Graduate Aid Redesign Project
Open Issues

GARP Open Issues:

  1. Question for Fred Crowley / Julie Norris:
  2. Revisit policy re: tuition charges to research accounts. I.e., In order to charge tuition to a research account, do we have to show a stipend charge? What happens when we have supplemental RA’s?

  3. Question for Project Team:
  4. Do we want to have a category called "SU" for Supplemental Appointments? The idea would be to set up the package as a Supplemental Appointment.

Advantage of this approach: The implementation of RA/RN rules would be easier.

  5. Question for Joanne / Registrar Office:
  6. Why don’t we keep the year of study of graduate students on MITSIS? Some departments would like to capture this information. It is also a required data field for the NSF Report and would be useful for survey purposes. One possible approach would be to code them as follows: G1, G2, G3, etc.

  7. Setup meeting with Gill Emmons and OSP:
  8. Is there a way to get Chart of Accounts data into MITSIS prior to sending it to the Data Warehouse? Result: The lag time from where an account gets established to when it gets activated in MITSIS will be reduced.

  9. Question for Fred Crowley:
  10. How are stipend monthly amounts calculated? Based on 30 days? What is the formula?

  11. Question for Joanne / Betty Bradley:

Tuition assessment / proration tables: when an early termination occurs, we would like to pull out the tuition charge out of the tuition proration tables. Is this something that canbe easily done?
