自利利他円満大正覚

Jiririta enman daishogaku

In Amida's Great Enlightenment
both self-benefit and benefiting of others
are perfectly accomplished.

弥陀的大正覚　是自利利他
二利円満的。

January

Hokkai ha tada mugeko no shoyo arunomi
jiriki o dasu yochi ga nai

There is nothing throuout the universe
other than
the glorious illumination of the Unhindered Light;
There is no room for self-power meddling.

法界尽是無碍光的光芒、
没有自力台頭的余地。

February

煙や雲もかたちなし ただもやもやの　わが心

Kemuri mo kumo mo katachi nashi,
tada moyamoyano waga kokoro.

Smoke and clouds are formless;
my mind, however, is full of mist.

煙和雲本無形体　只是吾心霧濛濛。

March

善悪を超えて大悲の光あり

Zen'aku　o koete daihi no hikari ari.

The Light of Great Compassion
shines beyond good and evil.

大慈悲的光明　超越善与悪。

April

九十年　何を聞いたか　覚えたか 何もわすれて　南無阿弥陀仏

Kyujunen naniwo kiitaka oboetaka
nanimo wasurete Namo Amida Butsu.

For ninety years, what have I heard,
what have I learnt?
Forgetting everything,
I find myself in Namo Amida Butsu.

九十歳、聞到什麼昵？　記得了什麼昵？
什麼都記不得、只有南無阿彌陀佛。

May

人生の楽はそのまま苦悩なり 憂き世の事は 夢幻泡影

Jinsei no raku wa sonomama kuno nari
ukiyo no koto ha
mugenhouei.

Pleasures of life are sufferings in disguise;
whatever happens in this world of sorrow is like
a dream, an illusion, bubbles or shadows.

人生之樂乃苦悩、
夢幻泡影即浮生。

真宗の神髄知るや 「難思の弘誓」　「無碍の光明」

Do you know the essence of Shin Buddhism?
It is the Inconceivable Great Vow and the Unhindered Light.

君知る眞宗之眞髄否？
此即「難思弘誓」和「無碍光明」。

July

高僧聖人のおことばは 無量無限の味がある

Words of the Patgriarchs and the Shonin
are the source of inexhaustible flavors.

高僧和聖人的法語、
有著無量無限的滋味。

August

心せよ　因果はめぐる　火の車 業道自然　あな恐ろしや

Be on your guard! The Law of Karma brings retribution -
even the fiery cart that takes you to hell.
How dreadful is the irrovocable path of Karma!

小心！　因果循環火車現
業道自然眞可怕。

September

わがこころ　秋の雲にも　似たりけり 起滅変幻　さだめなければ

My frivolous mind is like the autumn clouds,
for it arises and perishes, changing all the time.

吾心恰似秋天之雲朶、
起滅變化全人難捉摸。

October

After you have gone to sea,
keep your heart at rest,myDharma friend,
trusting the skill of the man at the helm.

當出航後、法友、請安心、
但信憑表掌舵之能耐。

November

南無阿弥陀佛 生きても南無阿弥陀佛 死んでも南無阿弥陀佛 南無阿弥陀佛にて往生する

Namo Amida Butsu -
When alive, I am with Namo Amida Butsu;
When dead, I am with Namo Amida Butsu;
I go to the Pure Land with Namo Amida Butsu.

南無阿彌陀佛、
　生也南無阿彌陀佛、
　死也南無阿彌陀佛、
依南無阿彌陀佛　往生去。

December

Throughout the universe, there is only
the illumination of the Unhindered Light.
The very presence of Amida Buddha is the sure evidence
of my birth in the Pure Land.

法界盡是無碍光之芒、
有阿彌陀佛在、我的往生錺不了。
