MIT-Madrid Spring Semester Program
Eligibility:
- MIT students in good academic standing
- Spanish IV or a faculty evaluation of the student’s ability to read, write and speak Spanish
Academic Program:
- Spring semester in Madrid
- Take up to 2 courses in your major subject
- Take 2 or more humanities classes
- Internship opportunities
- All classes taught in Spanish in prestigious Madrid universities:
Engineering classes taught at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid Humanities, science and management courses taught at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
Accommodations and Meals:
- Students are placed individually, according to preferences indicated on an extensive questionnaire in families carefully selected by the program.
- Breakfast and dinner are provided by the host families.
Spring 2008 Program Fee costs were approximately $1,800.
- The fee is based on 6 – 9 participants. It is subject to change if the number of participants changes before the start of the program. It is also based on current tuition for the two Madrid universities.

Students should plan to spend an additional $5,000 - $6,000 for airfare, visa, local transportation, lunches, textbooks, and personal expenses.
Financial Aid
The Study Abroad Office will provide Financial Aid Services with an estimated budget to include all anticipated expenses. Students need to meet individually with their financial aid officer to discuss their financial aid packet for the semester in Madrid.
- Before going to Madrid students must talk with their department’s transfer credit officer and complete a Transfer Credits Form.
- No grades are transferred only credit for courses passed.
