Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

Some Available Scholarships:
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citzen, undergraduate students of limited financial means to study abroad. "Such international study is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an icreasingly global economy andinterdependent world." 777 scholarships of up $5,000 will be awarded per year.
Kelly-Douglas Traveling Fellowships
The Kelly-Douglas Fund provides modest grants for IAP and summer projects. All MIT sophomores, juniors, and seniors wishing to travel during IAP or Summer to deepen their understanding of a field in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, or to contribute to a humanitarian project are eligible to apply. The maximum level of support offered by the Fund is $1000.
Kawamura Visiting Fellowship program
This is a summer program for outstanding students from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This program invites up to four students with strong interests in Japan and diverse academic and extra-curricular backgrounds to visit Nagoya, Tokyo, and other parts of Japan for approximately 5 weeks.
Expedition Grants
These grants support MIT undergraduates and continuing graduates who are traveling to developing regions to do community service projects that have a prospect of sustainable benefit for the community and continued interest from the students.
John C Phelan General Course Scholarship (for London School of Economics ONLY)
Donated by Mr. John Phelan, an alumnus of the General Course and a Member of the Board of the LSE Centennial Fund, each scholarship has a value of £7,000. All U.S. residents are eligible to apply and awards are made on the basis of both academic merit and financial need.
Sally Whitcher World Travel & Peace Awards
The Eastern New England Council of HI-USA supports responsible and meaningful travel through two $500 travel grants, awarded each semester to college students within the reagion who best demonstrate a commitment to educational and intercultural experiences.
NSEP / David Boren Scholarships
Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded. Boren Scholars study less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.
GSF Student Grant
Designed to support foreign language training and other academic studies abroad, this grant provides supplemental funds for American students who already are studying abroad under the auspices of an official study abroad program conducted by an accredited academic institution.
John T. Petters Foundation
The John T. Petters Foundation is a private foundation that works to advance the educational experiences by providing scholarships of deserving students. The Foundation focuses its scholarships to support international business study abroad and social entrepreneurship service programs.
Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation
The Foundation will support Silver or Gold Award Girl Scouts who plan to study abroad, irrespective of major/minor. It is not necessary to be a Scholarship to Study a Foreign Language recipient to apply for this one time Study Abroad scholarship; nor are Scholarship to Study a Foreign Language recipients excluded from applying. The Scholarship to Study Abroad IS NOT renewable. Applications may be submitted for studying abroad during first semester, second semester, summer, or the full academic year.
