To: From: "James Miller" Subject: New Student Survey 2006 August 2006 To: Students in the Class of 2010 From: James Miller, Dean of Admissions Every two years Brown participates in the CIRP (Cooperative Institutional Research Program) survey of entering students. The survey allows us to compare the interests and backgrounds of incoming Brown students with students entering other universities, and to use the results to plan appropriate academic and extra-curricular programs for Brown. It is important, therefore, that we have the participation of as many students from the Class of 2010 as possible. Please complete the survey on-line in the next few days, and no later than August 21. To thank you for our help, we will be holding a raffle for respondents of the survey. The prizes will be $100, $75, and $25 (5) gift certificates to the Brown Bookstore. The sooner you complete the survey the more times we will enter you in the survey. If you complete the survey the first week your name will be entered 3 times, the 2nd week twice and thereafter once. So complete please your survey as early as you can. You can access the survey at [link]. Your response to this survey will be held in strictest confidence. The surveys are processed at another university, and any reports of the survey results will be in the form of group averages. We will not have access to your individual responses. We will track respondents for the raffle only, and your name will not be linked to your responses to the survey. Thanks for your cooperation and we look forward to your arrival at Brown! If you have any questions about the survey, you can send them to advising@brown.edu.
