In July, you received a letter in a mailing from Carleton noting that
one of the rights of passage into college is the annual, national
Freshman Survey, sponsored by the Cooperative Institutional Research
Program (CIRP) at UCLA.  The letter briefly described the survey, uses
of the data that it collects, and noted that it would be administered
online, in August, at which time we would send you the link to the
survey.

It is now August, and time for the survey.  Your connection to the
survey is made simply by clicking on the link below:

any problems with it, please contact me (e-mail is probably best;
simply replying to this e-mail should reach me).

All of your responses are secure, will be treated with full
confidentiality, and will be used only in aggregate and only for
research purposes.

Please respond to the survey at your earliest convenience.  It will be
available for about the next three weeks.  However, by that time you
will be nearly ready to make the journey to campus!  So please take
the current opportunity to provide your responses to this important
survey.  Reminder e-mails will be sent periodically if you have not
yet completed it.
