Dear Freshman,

As you begin your academic life at Harvard College, I ask that you
take a moment to complete this important survey. This survey is
designed to help the Freshman Dean's Office and the College improve
the quality of your Harvard College education and experience. You will
be asked about your background and your expectations of college life
and learning. We take your responses seriously, and use them to guide
changes we make for the next generation of Harvard undergraduates.

The survey is administered at Harvard, as well as peer
institutions. The survey has two sections, a general section and a
supplemental section that covers topics related to life at Harvard
College. All participating schools share summary data. Your personal
information will never be available to anyone who receives the survey
results.

Your responses will be treated as confidential.  No individual will be
identified in any reports and all analyses will be reported in summary
form.  Your participation is strictly voluntary and you may choose to
answer only some of the questions. The survey closes on September 20,
so please take the time now.
