launch August 7 To: From: "Ross Peacock" Subject: 2006 Survey of American Freshmen Dear , First, I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Oberlin College community. I look forward to seeing you and your classmates as you arrive for Orientation. One thing you will learn quickly as a student is that we are interested in your experiences before, during and after your time at Oberlin. This e-mail announces a very important first step. Since 1973, Oberlin and hundreds of other institutions have participated in the Survey of American Freshmen administered by the Higher Education Research Institute. You may have seen the national results from this survey as many news outlets publish them each year. In addition to providing an excellent description of the students entering college for the first time every year, we find the responses from Oberlin students especially useful as we engage in various research and planning activities. I think our students find the results as interesting as I do! Your personal link to the survey is Our friends at MIT are hosting the technical administration for this survey for Oberlin students. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ross Peacock via e-mail at Institutional.Research@Oberlin.edu or by telephone at (440) 775-6927.
