To: jag@mit.edu From: "Lawrence M. Baldwin" Subject: Wellesley Freshman Survey Dear Jag: You have probably seen an announcement on the Wellesley Portal about the CIRP survey that Wellesley College is asking you to fill out. It is a national survey of first-year students run by the Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles. Wellesley has participated in the survey since 1971. This year's online version is being administered through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The survey asks about your high school activities, goals for college, and plans after you graduate. Faculty and administrators pay close attention to this information, which helps them understand the entering class better. You will have the opportunity at the end of the survey to decide how much information about yourself you would like to share with the researchers that oversee the survey and administrators at Wellesley. Be assured that survey responses are confidential and that you will not be personally identifiable in any report. To access the survey, please click on the following link: [url] This is a unique link assigned to you. For this reason, it is important that you do not share it or forward this e-mail. The survey takes approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. It consists of nine sections; please complete all sections so that we have a record of your full set of responses. We encourage you to fill out the survey as soon as possible, but allow enough time to complete it in one sitting. If you encounter any problems while taking the survey, please contact me at lbaldwin@wellesley.edu. Thank you for providing this feedback to Wellesley! We greatly appreciate your help. Sincerely, Dr. Lawrence M. Baldwin Director of Institutional Research Wellesley College
