I'm writing to ask that you complete an important survey from the
Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA.  This voluntary survey is
administered each year to new students across the country.  The Survey
asks Wesleyan students several questions about high school activities,
goals for college, and plans after your graduate.  The administration
pays close attention to this information, and we value your input.

This year, the online version of this survey will be conducted by our
colleagues at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and
coordinated by the Higher Education Research Institute at the
University of California at Los Angeles.  Wesleyan has provided your
email address and other information to these institutions for purposes
of conducting the survey.  You will have the opportunity in the survey
to decide how much information about yourself that you would like to
share with the researchers that oversee the survey and administrators
at Wesleyan.  Please note questions 40A and 40B.  We urge you to
answer YES, because your data can be used in later research only with
your authorization. Please be assured that your name will never be
associated with your answers, and that we will always handle this data
with sensitive regard for your confidentiality.  Your participation is
voluntary and will not affect your standing at Wesleyan.  Your
responses will be completely confidential and no personally
identifiable information will be attributed to you without your
explicit permission.

consists of nine linked sections; please complete all sections so that
we have a record of your full set of responses. This survey takes
