Every year, Northwestern cooperates with other colleges and
universities in a survey of entering freshmen concerning  their
interests, achievements and backgrounds. Your participation in this
project will be directly beneficial to Northwestern, offering guidance
as we plan for the future by comparing your class's responses with the
responses of students who have entered Northwestern over the past
forty years, as well as with those across the nation.

This is a unique link assigned to you.  For this reason, it is very
important that you do not share it or forward this e-mail to anyone
else.  The survey takes approximately twenty minutes to complete.
Please take the time to complete all nine sections.  

All data from this survey remain strictly confidential; no one on our
campus will have access to data that identify you personally unless
you give your explicit permission by answering question 42 of the
survey.  We hope you will consider doing so, since we are interested
in conducting additional studies that involve linking students'
responses with other student data.  Please be assured that we will not
to examine your individual responses to any questions, nor will we
report the findings of this survey in a manner that would identify
individuals.

Please complete the survey by September 15th.  Many members of the
educational community have carefully screened the survey; however, if
you regard any question as inappropriate, you may leave that answer
blank.  If you have any questions about the survey or encounter any
