Subject: Healthy Minds at MIT

Dear MIT Students,

I write to ask for your help with an important survey on student mental health at MIT.

Later this week, you will receive an email asking you to respond to the Healthy Minds Study, which examines mental health and related issues as well as how students engage with support services on campus. Hosted by the University of Michigan, this confidential study has been run at more than 100 colleges and universities, which enables us to make useful comparisons with other schools.  (More information, along with all the questions, are available at http://mit.edu/surveys/health.)

We are eager to use the Healthy Minds data to evaluate and enhance our mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention efforts, as part of MIT's membership in a four-year, data-driven assessment called the Jed and Clinton Health Matters Campus Program. But we can only make progress if we have candid input from current students.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to help us improve the student experience at MIT; I hope you can respond to the upcoming survey from healthyminds@mit.edu.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Barnhart
