Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s) of [student name]:

Within the past week, you should have received an email from me
inviting you to participate in the 2007 Parents Survey. The
information below explains how to do this.  Your answers will give us
a better sense of what we are doing well and where we can improve.
They will also help us to understand better the issues parents face in
financing an education at Duke University. Both parents and guardians
are welcome to respond to the survey separately, if you wish, but we
hope at least one person from your household will do so.  

Your participation in this survey is voluntary.  I realize that some
of the questions in the survey touch on sensitive areas. The
information collected will be kept strictly confidential and will not
be printed or published in any form that would identify any
individual. (In order to increase the usefulness of the survey, we may
augment your responses with information we have on file about you and
your son or daughter.  Such information will also be strictly
confidential.)  Results from this survey will be shared with
University officers, deans, and faculty leaders to assist them in
setting priorities and making policy.
