Subject: Amherst Student Survey Date: Thu, 02 Apr 2009 14:30:45 -0400 From: Ethan Kolek To: Jagruti Patel Dear Jagruti, I am writing to ask you to participate in a survey of all students that is part of the continuing academic planning effort at Amherst. You can contribute to this effort by clicking on the link below and completing a survey regarding your opinions of Amherst College and your experiences here. This is an opportunity to have your voice heard and your ideas considered in the academic planning process. It is important that we hear from as many students as possible, so I am hoping you will take a break from your busy schedule to provide us with your thoughtful responses. The survey should take only 10 to 15 minutes to complete. It is common to offer various incentives to students to complete such surveys, such as a raffle ticket for an electronic gadget or a coupon for specialty food. Several years ago we proposed making donations to local community organizations in the names of the students who completed our surveys. We found that students preferred to have their work on the survey acknowledged with a charitable donation instead of receiving a small prize for themselves. So, for every survey that is completed, two-dollars will be donated to a local community organization. If 75 percent or more of the student body responds, then an additional $1,000 will be shared by the Amherst Survival Center and Not Bread Alone. It is my hope that the dual goals of contributing to the academic planning process at Amherst College and supporting local community organizations will motivate you to take part in this project. If you have any questions about the project please contact me at ekolek@amherst.edu or (413)542-2945. Thank you for your help in this important process. Sincerely, Ethan Kolek Associate Director of Institutional Research To access and complete the survey online, please go to the following link: [url] This is a unique link assigned to you. For this reason, it is very important that you do not share it or forward this email to anyone else.
