1. Summary

spm_xbrain is an extraction utility which takes segmented brain
images and renders them into three-d images on which SPM activations
or ROI .imgs may be displayed. The xbrain facility allows rendering
of a particular brain from any angle around the brain, and with any
number of cuts made through any part of the brain, allowing almost
infinite flexibility in which parts of the anatomy are displayed
in a given rendering.
This function then outputs a *_rend.mat file, which can
be used in SPMs Render or Render Image utilities, which will
superimpose activations or .img files on the extracted brain at the
chosen view angle and with the chosen cuts.
This program isnt a Gabrieli lab exclusive; its part of the
original SPM99 release. Its also rather tricky to sum up in one
quick little readme file. Interested users are suggested to examine
the Help documentation in SPM on the Rendering utilities, spm_render
and spm_render_vol, as well as SPMs help on spm_xbrain. You may also
contact Jeff Cooper at the Gabrieli lab, jcooper@stanford.edu, for
further help with this programs usage.
