Interested in Swimming With MIT Masters Swimming?

Please send patti (patti@mit.edu) the following information:

1. When you typically swim now, how long do you usually swim?
2. How far do you usually go?
3. Can you swim freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly?
4. If you were to swim 5 sets of 100 yards, what interval would you do them on?
5. are you interested in swimmming at 6:15 am, noon or 7:00 pm - 8:30. you can attend any session you want, but you might find it is easier to attend one time regularly. we have workouts monday through friday at those times.

Because we are a college based program. We have limits as to how many non-MIT associated people we can have in our program. We currently do not have a waiting list for non-MIT people

New announcements:

Posted may 25th:

  1. There is no Sunday workout on May 27th (but the pool is open 9 am to 4 pm) or on Monday May 28th (pool is closed).
  2. The last week of the winter session runs from May 29th to June 3rd.
  3. Summer coaches/lanes fees are now set: (see payment page for instructions)
  • If you pay before June 15th - Students is $65.00 and non-students is $110.00
  • After June 15th - Students is $80.00 and non-students is $125.00.
  • Fees must be paid by June 30th or you will not be allowed to swim with us. The summer session is short and the costs are high.

Posted May 18th:

The Summer 2012 session for MIT Masters is now organized. The fees are still being set. If you have not sent email to patti (patti@mit.edu) telling her that you are interested in swimming with us, please do so.

The summer session runs from June 5th to September 3rd. The detailed workout schedules are below for June, July and August.

June 2012(on-line pdf here)

  1. Friday June 8th is commencement at MIT. No am workout, but there is noon and pm workout
  2. The weekend workouts will be on Sunday June 10, then move to Saturdays starting June 23
  3. There are no Friday night workouts during the summer starting Friday June 15th
  4. Weekend of June 16th - 17th. Major swim meet - no Saturday workout

July 2012(on-line pdf here)

  1. No workout on Wednesday July 4th (pool is closed only on this day)
  2. Due to Swim meet on July 13th (pm) through July 15th, there is no workout on Saturday July 14th.

August 2012(on-line pdf here)

  1. Move to short course for August 19th workout. Long course officially ends on August 17th at the noon workout
  2. Sunday workouts are back starting on Sunday August 19th since the facility hours are off summer hours.

  1. There is a swim meet on Friday May 11th to Saturday May 12th. The Friday night workout is cancelled. Noon and am workout are running.
  2. No workouts on Monday May 28th, Memorial day, but we still swim on the Sunday
  3. Summer session starts Monday June 4th

We are now allowed to accept non-MIT associated people. Please contact patti for further information .

if you are not associated with MIT and you want to swim with us you need to:

-Buy a Friends of MIT athletic card (cost is $845 for an entire year or $555 for 6 months). for the most up to date cost, please check out the DAPER website

-If you want to spread out the payments for your athletic card over eleven payments, you need to contact the customer service desk.

-The MIT Masters Program is the only Masters program that comes with access to an excellent gym, a lot of other fitness classes, sailing, and other things. And most importantly for a swimmer, we have a great swimming pool.
