Test scenarios:
When testing upgrading or new installs, it is important to capture the amount of time it takes for installations to complete. It took Deb 20 minutes on an upgrade for only Outlook 2007. For someone else on the team, it took several hours?
We need to test and document customizing the installation for word, excel and powerpoint. Otherwise, the whole suite installs. The customization feature is not straight-forward.
Upgrading:
Windows XP SP2
- since we support Office 2003, we will test the upgrade path from this version and "NO" other versions.
New installations:
- Vista Enterprise
Communications plan:
A communication is being drafted by Jon hunt which informs the liaisons of the timeline of availability. The liaisons provide their own support and will be the first to receive Office 07 via media (CD)and a packet much like the Office 03 release (MSCA at MIT).
Deb needs to bug Jon to find out the status
- release project underway
Deb will draft a release project underway and send to the team for review by next week; pending the above communication.
- project notebook
Deb created a project notebook: (send info to Deb to be added) http://web.mit.edu/swrt/releases/office/
If needed, we will provide a 45 day update to the MIT community should something go awry with testing and our timeline is bumped.
Draft Office 2007 Release Announcement
- will be drafted and circulated to the team once we get close to release date.
