Vista Release meeting

Agenda for the meeting:

- Updates on new pre-RC1 Vista release version

- Discussion of test results and test plan

- Updates on Office 2007; different test scenarios

Action Items:

- Tests will be conducted to verify and compare test results under “clean” install vs upgrade

- Historically IS&T recommended “clean” install since there are too many options under upgrade scenario and it is difficult to support

- Server group will perform “remote” install of Vista using server based technologies in managed environment

- Installation tests will be preformed on different hardware including laptops (Dell D-series latitude)

- Release team will work on set of recommendations to MIT community including different upgrade scenarios to Vista from XP with supported apps installed; upgrades with office 2003 installed; upgrades from Office 2003 installed on Vista to Office 2007

- IE7 ActiveX is no longer available for MIT certificate; needs farther testing

- Windows Mail under Vista works in this pre-RC1 verstion with MIT IMAP settings, can send and receive mail

- New build includes “Program compatibility Wizard”; XP compatibility applications test will be conducted to determine how reliable it is
