Vista Release meeting

Agenda for the meeting:

- Discussion of Vista release project plan

- Updates on release of RC1

- Discussion of recent test results

- Vista upgrade scenarios

- Preparing for Vista support (availability of Vista environment in members groups; steps to be taken for staff training)

Action Items:

- Esther and Monique will get a new PC to setup Vista station for training and presentations to be shared with Help Desk in N-42

- Michael Bryan will help to get the hardware

- Alex will send an electronic copy of Vista Release Project Plan draft; team members will add to the project plan by identify areas in their departments where testing, training and development should be performed

- MIT mail migration experience will be used to help develop this Project

- The team will work on a set recommendations for Vista release for both windows domain and stand alone machines; they should be more consistant than in the past

- Server group will test and work on group policy settings to enable domain login field to the login dialog box; currently only local login is enabled

- Currently there are about 10% of PC on campus have windows domain login out of 20-30 thousand PC at MIT, there are 3-4 thousand unique logins a month

- Test results including matrix will become available to a larger MIT audience; have to check legal aspects of this change

- DITR will focus its efforts on migration to Vista; hardware, swapping machines

- Communication with MIT community will be staged in accordance with Vista Project Plan (early adapters, mainstream, Help Desk support )

- Determine set of policies for security (firewall is disabled by default on XP machines in windows domain)

- Sloan school participation in Vista Project; Alex will check with their relationship manger
