Action Items:
- Virus Scan 8.5 will be made available for testers in early January; e-mail will be sent to vista-tester group explaining that Vista should not be installed in production environment and Virus Scan 8.5 will be release to MIT community in February
- More information will be collected from testers about Virus Scan functionality to present a case to McAfee and open a ticket
- Group members should install Virus Scan 8.5 on their test machines and report their test results ASAP; include desctiption of your test envirionment; is it an upgrade from XP, was 8.0 install on XP prior to the upgrade?
- Decision will be made if training should be provided for free to service providet; first two classes will be provided to Sloan and HelpDesk in January – February (total of four courses will be provided)
- There are about 30 activated Vista machines on campus
- Tests are needed to determine how to reactivate Vista after 6 months (we should try to test it with a virtual machine not being activate for 30 days to determine the course of action)
- VistaActive Directory cross realm logons work fine with Vista clients, however we will not recommend Vista before commercial versions of McAfee VirusScan and the VPN client are available. We are using Vista in our test AD environment at the moment, but the new group policy settings will not be deployed in the production domain until we have all the necessary software
- Communication plan and documentation has to reflect setting up Active Directory login under Vista
- IE 7 certificate solution should be found by February 1.
