The Harvard-MIT Math Tournament is an annual math
tournament for high school students, held at MIT and at Harvard in
alternating years. It is run by MIT and Harvard students who
participated in math contests in high school, so we try to incorporate
what we liked best about math contests when we were in high school. We
hope this will make the contest both challenge and entertain you or
your students. The sixth annual HMMT is scheduled
to take place Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the MIT
site. Unfortunately, due to an unexpectedly high level of
participation in this year's HMMT, we cannot accommodate any new
registrants. We recognize that more students had been
hoping to participate, and we extend our sincerest apologies. We hope
to see you at HMMT 2004. We work hard to make the
tournament run smoothly, and hope your school can participate next
year. More information about next year's tournament will be posted
when it is available. For more detailed
information about tournament events, see web.mit.edu/hmmt/www/rules.shtml. The schedule for the 2003 HMMT
is now available as well. If you are an MIT or
Harvard student interested in helping either organize the tournament
beforehand or run it on contest day, please contact hmmt-request@mit.edu. Thank you, and we hope to see you on contest day! Gabriel Carroll and Daniel Rosenbloom,
