Janie Donohue

Coordinator

Janie is deeply committed to social justice and has a history of providing ethical leadership in both ecclesiastical and secular settings, provoking others to examine the oftentimes hidden assumptions that drive us to preserve the status quo, including but not limited to, white privilege. An ardent feminist, Janie has been a vocal, public advocate for the dissolution of power structures that perpetuate the spiritual, emotional and physical impoverishment of all women. She has served as the Director of the Women’s Center at Yale Divinity School and is a certified domestic violence counselor and batterer intervention specialist. Additionally, Janie is passionate about the urgent need for a national policy of equal rights for same gendered couples.

Janie looks forward to helping to create an arena in which the MIT community can wrestle with the role of scientific and technological power in these matters and the ethical responsibility of those who wield it.
