-ことにする

-ことにする means 'decide to do such and such'. Consider the following:

• 来年の夏は、日本IBMで、アルバイトをすることにしました。
  (I decided to do a part-time job at IBM Japan next summer.)
• 大学院に行くことにしました。
  (I decided to go to a graduate school.)
• これから毎日野菜をたくさん食べることにします。
  (I decide (try) to eat more vegetables everyday from now.)
• これからは、もうたばこをすわないことにします。
  (I decide (try) not to smoke from now.)

If you want to say, 'decide on something', you can say: (Noun)にする.

• Q: 何にしますか。
  A: すしにします。
• Q: どこにしますか。
  A: サンフランシスコにします。
