ーの点

点 literally means "poin(s)". But this word can be used as "aspects/respects" as well. For instance, consider the following examples:

• 日本語のどんな点が難しいと思いますか。

  What aspect(s) of the Japanese language do you find difficult?

• 日本人の特にどんな点が好きですか。

  What aspect(s)/part(s) of the Japanese people do you like particularly?

• この点に関しては、問題はありません。

  There is no problem with respect to this (point).

• スピードが速い言う点が、このコンピューターの特色(とくしょく)です。

  (lit.) (The point) that its speed is fast is the character of this computer.

• この点について、どう思いますか。

  What you do think about this point (aspect)?

The following words are also useful to remember:

• 観点(かんてん)(viewpoint/point of view) (ーの)観点から見ると、.....
• 視点(してん) (viewpoint/point of view) (ーの)視点から見ると、.....

Consider the following examples:

• 科学者(かがくしゃ) (scientists)の観点から見ると、こんなことは 信じられない。 (from the scientist's point of view, such things are unbelievable!)
