Greetings to all incoming freshmen and first year graduate students and welcome to the 2008-2009 academic year!
On Labor Day weekend, the Tech Catholic Community moves from one Sunday mass to three Sunday masses, all followed by coffee and donuts in building W11 (schedule below). On Monday evenings (starting in September) we have a free dinner and a speaker or discussion. Wednesday evenings we have scripture study followed by adoration and the opportunity for confessions.
We have our fall retreat the weekend of October 25th this year. We will charter a bus to Kennebunkport, Maine and stay within walking distance of the ocean. The retreat is free, social, and fun and runs from Friday evening to Sunday mid-day.
As the largest student group on campus, TCC relies heavily on student leadership to remain a vibrant community. We enourage everyone (undergrads and grads) to become involved in some way to keep our community strong.
If you have any questions about TCC or would like to get involved, please send our chair, Joe, an email (jcpapp at mit.edu). We look forward to seeing you on campus!
In Christ,
TCC's Student Council
The Tech Catholic Community at MIT is an international community of Christians in the Roman Catholic tradition. Our central mission is to minister to the University community. In this context, the TCC community draws people seeking truth and healing from all over the country, and the world. Our unity in faith and sacraments transcends our diversity.
We are called to grow in our faith and to share that faith with one another, with those newly arrived in our community, with those whose search has led them away from the Church, and all who seek God.
We are committed to sharing the community we enjoy through reaching out in love to those who surround us and to the larger MIT and worldly communities of which we are a part. The community finds its unity and voice, gathered to hear God's Word, primarily through the celebration of the Eucharist. We strive to utilize all the God-given talents of the total community in worship, in educational efforts, and in outreach.
