Walking Directions

From the Cambridge Marriot Hotel (near the Kendall T stop), take the Main Street exit (instead of Broadway), turn left on Main Street. You will see Au Bon Pain, and Fleet Bank across the Street. Turn right at the Fleet Bank corner onto Wardworth Street. Continue on Wardsworth street for about 100 yards, you will be at the Sloan School of Managment, which is just before Memorial Drive and the Charles River. Three Buildings are there: E51 (see the red arrow on map), E52 (also called Sloan Building), and E53 (Herman Building). E51-345 is on the right side of Wardsworth Street, on the third floor. Incidentally, the MIT Faculty Club is on the 6th Floor of E52.

By Car

From the North (via I-93 or I-95)

Take the I-93 south exit off of I-95. Heading south on I-93, take exit 26 and follow the signs to Back Bay along Storrow Drive West, approximately 1.5 miles, to the exit for Route 2A. The exit will be on the left, just before the Harvard Bridge (also known as the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge). The Charles River will be on your right. At the top of the ramp, take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue. As you cross the river, you will be looking at MIT. The Great Dome and academic facilities will be on the right, and the dormitories and athletic facilities on the left.

From the South (via I-93 or I-95)

From I-95, head north on I-93 (Southeast Expressway) into Boston. From I-93, take exit 26 and follow the signs to Back Bay along Storrow Drive West, approximately 1.5 miles, to the exit for Route 2A.

Alternatively, from I-95 you can take I-90 and follow the instructions below coming from the west.

From the West (via I-90, the Mass Turnpike)

Follow I-90 east to the Cambridge/Brighton exit 18. Follow the signs to Cambridge and cross the River Street Bridge. Continue straight about 1 mile to Central Square. Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue and follow it for about a half mile. The main entrance to MIT will be on your left. If you cross the river, you have gone too far.

Parking

To find a place to park, turn left at the Vassar Street light just before the main entrance to MIT. Follow Vassar Street for a few blocks to Kendall Square, where several commercial lots are located. You can also turn right onto Memorial Drive from Massachusetts Avenue. Take the first U-turn to travel east on Memorial Drive. The main Sloan building (E52), 50 Memorial Drive, will be on your left.

From Route I-93

From I-93, take exit 26, and follow the signs to Back Bay along Storrow Drive West, approximately 1.5 miles, to the exit for Route 2A. The exit will be on the left, just before the Harvard Bridge (more appropriately called the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge). The Charles River will be on your right. As you cross the bridge, you will be looking at MIT &mdash the Great Dome and academic facilities are on the right, the dormitories and athletic facilities are on the left.

By Taxi

The street address of the Sloan Building is 50 Memorial Drive, Cambridge. If the taxi driver needs a cue beyond the address, tell him or her that Sloan is at the eastern end of the MIT campus, a few buildings west of the Longfellow Bridge. A taxi ride from Logan Airport should cost around $13-$20, depending on the time of day.

By rapid transit (the T)

The T has four lines: the Red Line, the Blue Line, the Orange Line, and the Green Line. To get to Sloan, take the Red Line to Kendall Square. Once above ground (you'll be on Main Street), head for the nearby BankBoston on the corner of Wadsworth Street. Walk half a block down Wadsworth toward the river, then cross the street to a wide flight of stone steps &mdash the Sloan Plaza. The Hermann Building (which houses the Sloan library and faculty offices; also known as E53) is straight ahead, and the main Sloan building (E52) is on your right.

From the airport, take the free shuttle bus from your terminal to the Airport T station, which is on the Blue Line. Take an Inbound train to Government Center. Walk up one flight of stairs to the Green Line and take a Westbound trolley one stop to Park Street. Walk down one flight to the Red Line and take an Alewife train to Kendall (the second stop). During rush hours the entire trip could take about 30 minutes. During off-hours it could take an hour.

The fare on T trains and trolleys is $1.00, with free transfers between lines. On buses, the fare is 75 cents.
