Jawed Karim

Jawed Karim is an innovator and entrepreneur. He has worked in the field of web based collaborative applications, and has several distinct innovations to his credit. He was one of the first employees of Paypal Inc, which he joined while still studying for his bachelorís degree. He implemented PayPalís first real-time anti-fraud systems. In October 2002, PayPal was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion. While working at Paypal, he met Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, with whom he co-founded Youtube in 2005. Youtube was later acquired by Google in 2006 for $1.7 billion. Currently he is enrolled as a graduate student at Stanford university. Recently, he co-founded a venture fund called Youniversity Ventures. The primary goal of this fund is to provide mentorship and capital for launching business ideas by current and former students of Stanford University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
