Cambridge-MIT Exchange Students
Every year we are home to some students from the original Cambridge. This page has some specific information CMEs might like to know. If you have any questions, email us at et-www@mit.edu
Joining ET
Epsilon Theta treats its CMEs as full members of the house in every way. This means that when you join you become a pledge. Being a pledge means you've made a commitment to be a part of our fraternity. You will attend fun activities and pledge meetings with the rest of your plege class, and are initiated into the fraternity at the end of IAP. Being initiated makes you an official member of the fraternity. Pledges are treated as equal members of the house with full voting rights at house meetings and the right to run for a house office. There is no hazing. There is some more information at the bottom of our About Us page.
Living at ET
Living at ET comes with a lot of perks! Rent for the Fall '08 semester is projected to be $3,800 and covers all your expenses at the house, including laundry and 7 full meals a week prepared by our cook Karen. We keep the house nice and clean by sharing house duties such as vacuuming the front rooms. For some more information about the house, check out the House Tour page.
Studying at ET (and on campus)
While we all like living in Brookline, we still have to get back to Cambridge for classes. This is made easy with the Epsilon Theta van. The house owns a 15-seater van, and certified house members drive scheduled morning and afternoon runs to and from campus every day. If you want to get to campus on your own, it's a 10-15 minute bike ride or a pleasant half hour walk. We are also a five minute walk from the subway system (the MBTA). At night, the MIT Saferide shuttle picks up and drops off right outside the house. While at the house, we have 'study conditions' between 7pm and 2am, during which the front rooms of the house are kept quiet for those who want to study.
Playing at ET
We're all studious, but no one can study all of the time! ET has an impressive collection of board and video games, many of which are in regular use. There is a projector in the basement for watching movies. ET is a socially dry house (we don't serve alcohol at parties), but members can own their own alcohol.
