TLL collaborates with faculty, administration, and students to design and
implement assessment and evaluation studies to determine if educational
goals are being met. Research can be done on pedagogical innovation,
extra-curricular programs, or learning spaces, for example. (Please see Examples
of Course Evaluations for forms that are
used to evaluate specific courses.)
We provide assessment and evaluation support through the following types
of activities:
- Identification of research questions to guide their investigations
- Development of a research design
- Construction of measurement instruments
- Selection of a sample design
- Selection of appropriate data collection methods
- Selection of appropriate data analysis techniques.
Our studies follow the established methodological guidelines of social science
and educational research.
The types of services offered depend on the needs and expertise of the faculty
and investigators, as well as TLL resources. Because there is a close
correlation between advance planning and an effective assessment and evaluation
research design, we hope investigators will consult with TLL staff in the
early phase of the planning process.
A Service Request Form can be
filled out and sent online or printed and returned to TLL, Room 5-122.
