Technology Inquiries
The MIT Technology Licenses Office welcomes companies to get
to know us personally. We find it most effective to work individually
with a company to identify specific areas of interest. We then
bring inventions, which specifically match the company's interests
to the attention of the company. With 700 new invention disclosures
coming into our office each year, our portfolio is constantly
changing. We therefore encourage companies to keep in touch
on a regular basis and also to contact
us when a particular technology need arises.
Early Stage Technology
Our technology is usually early stage
and often requires substantial development by the licensing
company before a commercial product is ready for market. Because
of this, we often find that the best contact person from the
company is one who is knowledgeable about the company's science
and technology and also familiar with the long-term strategic
plans of the company.

Selected Software
We maintain a searchable database of
MIT issued patents and published patent applications. However,
it does not list any disclosures to our office
in the last two years; nor does it list software or other non-patented
technology available for licensing. Please contact
us directly when a technology need arises.
License Terms
Our licensing terms reflect the fact that most licensees will
need to invest substantial time and money in product development.
Terms are flexible. Exclusivity, field of use, subdivision of
patent rights and sublicensing provisions are tools available
to shape the license. Running royalties, license issue fees,
and other terms are tailored to match a licensee's needs and
the realities of the market.
