Helping your Living Group or Student Group to be
More Trans Friendly
Transgender students come from all walks of life... and may be a part of your living group or student organization. Some trans students may be "out" about being trans, while others may not. And just because a living group or student group might be GLB-friendly does not mean that it is automatically trans-friendly.

This workshop provides a background and basic understanding of trans issues, explains how trans needs and concerns may differ from those of GLB populations, and provides an opportunity to discuss concrete suggestions and ideas to foster better understanding and inclusion of all people in your living group or student group, regardless of gender identity or presentation.

Supporting Transgender People at MIT:
A Workshop for Staff, Administrators, and Faculty
Increasing numbers of students enter college identifying as transgender. Both staff and students at MIT sometimes choose to change their gender designation and/or presentation while working at or attending MIT. How can administrators, human resource officers, student support staff, campus police, medical/health staff, and others best help and support transgender people at MIT?

This workshop provides a background and basic understanding of trans issues, explains how trans needs and concerns may differ from those of GLB populations, and provides an opportunity to discuss concrete suggestions and ideas for better serving and supporting transgender people. The workshop will provide participants with information and strategies to use in their current work. We can tailor this workshop to the needs and concerns of your specific department.

Learning about Transition:
When a student or colleague makes a change in their gender designation or presentation
When someone in a working group, living group, or office goes through a gender transition, many questions may arise within that group. This workshop helps deal with questions and concerns around gender transition in a friendly, open, and accessible manner, while encouraging and affirming respect and dignity for all parties involved.

Classroom/Event Speakers
Would you like a transgender speaker to visit your classroom or campus event to speak to students about trans issues? Our seasoned and engaging speakers can present lectures or interactive discussions, and have extensive experience with college audiences ranging in size from 5 to 500 people.
