Difficulty Rating: Moderate
Preparation Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of glutinous rice flour
  • ½ cup of palm sugar
  • ½ cup of grated coconut (coconut flakes are fine too)
  • 10 tbsp of water (never use hot/warm water)
  • 1 cup of grated coconut, ¼ cup of sugar and salt to taste

Instruction:

  1. To make the stuffing, mix ½ cup of palm sugar, ½ cup of grated coconut flakes and 1 tbsp of water in a medium-low heat. Stir until the mixture is sticky. Leave mixture out to dry for a bit
  2. To make the flour, carefully add in each tbsp of water and thoroughly knead the flour mixture. keep adding a bit of water while kneading the flour. This procedure is very important. We need to knead the flour well enough so that the desserts become sticky and chewy.
  3. Bring water to boil.
  4. Take about a teaspoon of flour mixture and spread it into a circular flat shape. Scoop some stuffing and wrap the flour around it. Make sure the stuffing is completely contained within the flour mixture and there is no hole.
  5. Mix in 1 cup of grated coconut, ¼ cup of sugar and a little bit of salt (1/8 tsp) to bring out sweetness in sugar.
  6. Boil in water until the desserts float. Scoop it out and mixed the boiled ball with the grated coconut.
