Ted's How to Make Windows Civilized Page
Introduction
Windows(tm) is *much* more civilized after you install the right
set of tools. :-)
Links
- A precompiled set of zip/unzip binaries
for Windows NT.
- Cygnus's GNU-WIN32
tool-chain. Its user tools utilities are useful even if you
need to use Microsoft's C compiler instead of gcc. They contain nice
commands like bash, tar, gzip, ls, grep, etc.
- A port of GNU emacs
for Windows NT.
- Perl for Windows NT
- Virtual Network Computing, a
package which allows you to remote access your NT box securely, even from
a Unix machine!
- Although I don't use it, Reed Kotler has put together a
toolset of Unix utilities
for Windows NT that contains the GNU tools, perl, emacs, etc.
