Excused Absences (OX)
A student may be excused from a scheduled final examination or coursework during the last two weeks of the semester if s/he was progressing satisfactorily and has verifiable medical or personal issues. However, undergraduates are expected to initiate the request for an Excused Absence by first contacting the course professor and then meeting with an S3 dean (Room 5-104; 617-253-4861). Graduate students should speak with staff in the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education regarding excused absences.
This section provides information on Excused Absences, including definitions of the O and OX grades and the guidelines one must follow when requesting an Excused Absence.
