  • Front view of the lock
  • Key inserted into one of the spindles
The Fichet 3-Clicker combination safe lock has three separate spindles. Instead of a dial, the user uses the key to the safe to first reset the lock and then enter the combination. To provide a reference point, each spindle can be turned to the left until a certain point, at which it stops. The user then turns the spindle a set number of clicks (0-20) to the right. After repeating this process for the other two spindles, the user can then insert the key into the key lock (if present) and open the safe.

The Fichet 3-Clicker combination safe lock determines the correct combination for each spindle through the use of cams that have flat sides.
  • Cam on the right has been set to the correct position, but the 'finger' cannot drop onto the flat because one or more of the other cams have not been set to the correct position. (Depending on which cam it is, the finger may drop if both, one, or none of the other cams are correctly set.)
  • Cam on the right has been set to the correct position, and the 'finger' has dropped onto the flat
  • The cam on the right has been set to the incorrect position.
The combination is changed by twisting the knob on the back of the lock, once the correct combination has been dialed. The knob disconnects the cams from the spindles, allowing the user to change the relationship between spindle and cam.
