3 + 4). Select it (see FIGURE 2.16) and press the enter key (not the return key). The code will be compiled, downloaded to the Newton, and executed. The return result will then be displayed in the Inspector (see FIGURE 2.17).

While the Inspector is connected, the Newton will not sleep (neither automatically nor when you press the on/off switch). Therefore, you won't usually want to be running on batteries when programming. For information on how to disconnect the Inspector, see "Disconnect the Inspector" on page 41.
