What's on this CD

README
That's this file.

WhereNTK
This short file describes how you can download a limited version of Windows NTK from the Internet. It also describes where to find an online version of the Newton Programmer's Guide, and the Newton DTS sample code.

NewtWeb.htm
Open this file in a Web browser to navigate to Newton development information on the Internet.

QickTime
This folder contains software from Apple to display movies. Copy the appropriate installer executable (16-bit for Windows 3.1, 32-bit for Windows 95 or NT) to your hard disk and execute it.

Movies
This folder contains movies for every example and exercise in the book. After installing QuickTime, you can play any of these movies just by opening it from the CD; there is no need to copy the movies to your hard disk before playing them.

These movies are meant to show how an exercise would be done in real-life. Therefore, you'll find typos and programming errors which lead to runtime errors which must be debugged. The voice-over describes what's happening in these situations. In many cases, you can learn more from watching someone solve an error, than from watching them do it 100% correct in the first place.

In order to more quickly bring this book to market, the movies for chapters 9, 10, 11, and 12 were done on a Macintosh, rather than in Windows.

Projs
This folder contains completed projects for examples and exercises in the book. Note that all the file names in this folder are at most 8 characters long for Windows 3.1 compatability.

Projects.zip
This file contains a zipped version of the projects from the book with their (Windows 95/NT compatible) long filenames. Use your favorite zip program to open it.

3rdParty
This folder contains demo versions of ViewFrame and Ragout, as well as an order form for PDA Developers. Documentation is in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF files). This folder contains an installer for Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be used to read PDF files.

Promised
This folder contains a file containing a picture bitmap file. The book stated that this file would be on the CD and here it is.

It also contains a project for creating auto-parts, since demo versions of NTK may not allow creating auto-part projects.
