Amgen-UROP Scholars
Program Associates
MIT students selected to be Amgen Scholars may, in addition
to engaging in research, be invited to assume leadership roles
as Program Associates. These positions
will provide a leadership and mentoring opportunity for MIT
students. All MIT students admitted to the Program will be
invited to interview for these positions; two
will be selected.
Students assuming these roles must be committed to providing
peer support to fellow Amgen Scholars, particularly those
visiting from other colleges and universities. In addition,
Program Associates will develop and host a series of networking
and social events for all Amgen Scholars at MIT, and will
assist program staff in organizing educational activities,
including weekly lunches and the end-of-program poster session.
Program Associates and will be compensated $1,000
beyond their research wages.
Responsibilities of the Program Associate
Program Associates will:
- Organize a robust program of networking events and social
activities throughout the nine-week period, which may include
weekend day trips to Boston and areas within New England.
- Provide general support and advice to Scholars visiting
from other institutions, and refer them to on-campus resources.
- Assist program staff with the development and organization
of educational activities, including a luncheon seminar
series and an end-of-program poster session.
All MIT students accepted into the Amgen-UROP Scholars
program will be invited to interview for a Program Associates
position. Interviews with UAAP staff will be scheduled during
the first two weeks of April. Questions regarding

Two MIT Amgen Scholars will be invited to assume
these roles, and an orientation will be provided
prior to the start of the Program.
