Students involved in UTR projects have traveled abroad to
work with local communities in need. While the word “development” often
receives criticism due to the policies employed by some international
financial institutions, UTR hopes that close coordination with both local
community leaders and our UTR university advisors will allow relief,
reconstruction and long-term development programs to benefit from a bottom-up
approach. UTR members have engaged in relief operations in the
number of countries, ranging from AIDS treatment operations on the border of Thailand
and Burma to hunger relief projects in Sudan. The “work abroad” program will
soon be an official part of UTR. This website will, within the next few
months, contain downloadable application forms and details on how to write a
proposal if your student group would like UTR to sponsor its relief or
development project in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, or Asia. Stay tuned for more information as the summer begins… |
